Heather Causey

Heather Causey of South Carolina is a certified registered nurse anesthetist whose career reflects a strong commitment to advanced patient care. A South Carolina native, she currently serves at Columbus Regional Hospital in Whiteville, North Carolina, where she provides anesthesia services for a broad range of surgical procedures. Working closely with surgeons, nurses, and perioperative teams, she cares for patients across the lifespan and brings particular experience in regional, general, and sedation anesthesia, including pediatric and geriatric cases. Her clinical background also includes caring for high-acuity ASA III and IV patients in a medically underserved region, underscoring her steady, patient-centered approach in complex settings.

Heather began her nursing career at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, where she worked in the surgical trauma intensive care unit from 2003 to 2006. In that role, she delivered collaborative care to critically ill patients, including trauma and postoperative cases requiring intensive monitoring and advanced support. She also served as a charge nurse, helping guide unit operations and coordinate care for patients with significant medical needs. Before joining Columbus Regional Hospital, she practiced as a CRNA at McLeod Loris Seacoast in Loris, further strengthening her experience in perioperative anesthesia.

Her academic preparation includes pre-nursing studies at Coastal Carolina University, followed by a nursing degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She later returned to MUSC to complete her nurse anesthesia training and earn her master’s degree. During her studies, she was recognized as an honors and President’s List student and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. Heather remains engaged in her profession through membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Outside of work, she enjoys playing the piano and spending time with her family.
